‘Scene’ on a PSV Circle Organised Visit. At the Various Premises of R.S. Tyrer Ltd., Farnworth, Bolton 2 on Dennis Basford’srailsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The PSV Circle (of which I have been a member for some years) aims to hold an Annual General Meeting in a different location in the UK every year.

Usually held at a weekend, they also include visits to operators and other bus related venues for the attending members to visit and enjoy.

This year, the location being in the North West of England centred on the Holiday Inn Express, Preston.

Friend Peter Rose joined me for what turned out to be a sometimes wet, but very enjoyable weekend.

As we have done before, we have combined all the images we have gathered.

The credits being joint D.Basford/P.M.Rose.

‘Tyrers’ has a history stretching back to 1972 when Bob Tyrer at the age of 58 started his own business with a single, Leyland engined, Plaxton bodied Bedford coach.

Today, the company operates over 100 hundred vehicles out of three separate bases in the area.

‘Tyrers’ provided the transport for our second morning until lunchtime, which was taken in Manchester.

‘Scene’ in Derby recently

For me, one of the pleasures of watching the transport scene is that you never know what is going to turn up next.

Sometimes you wait for hours and nothing much happens and then on another occasion these turned up within a half hour or so of each other.

‘trentbarton’ have transferred 4 Scania L94UB’s with Wright Solar Urban bodies (FJ03 VWB, VWF, VWH and VRZ) to strengthen the service on the i4.

An Optare Excel of ‘trentbarton’. Surely living on borrowed time!

‘Six leggers’ ‘Scene’ at Showbus 2014

I have always had an attraction to 6 wheel buses and coaches. Its something about their size and the power that they convey.

I am too young to remember the pre war Leyland Gnu which like the Bedford VAL which I can remember from the 1960’s had the extra axle at the front.

I also remember 6 wheel trolleybuses in both Rotherham and London in the 1950’s so maybe its the nostalgia that draws me to them.

Whatever the reason, there was plenty to enjoy at last years Showbus.

M1 PCV

A coach guaranteed to catch anyone’s eye.

An Ayats Bravo A3E/BR1 of ‘Barkerbus’ who are a long established operator operating out of Harlow in Essex.

A964 HVN

A much earlier Kassbohrer Setra being a S228DT with a body seating 74 passengers in coach style.
