‘Scene’ at the Buses Festival 2021 ‘Stagecoach’ on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The annual ‘Buses Festival’ in 2021 was held at the ‘East of England Showground’ which is near Peterborough.

An interesting selection where all the fleet liveries carried by ‘Stagecoach’ over the years were available in one place.

M202 LHP ‘Stagecoach MIDLAND RED’ No. 202.

Volvo B10M / Alexander PS type

on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

I liked the first ‘Stagecoach’ livery.

Often referred to as the ‘Starsky and Hutch’ livery after the car used by two American detectives in the TV series of that name.

It was new, it was bright and It was smart when kept clean (which mostly it was).

The other advantage was that it could not be mistaken for any other company.

New to ‘Stagecoach MIDLAND RED SOUTH’.

Alexander Dennis Ltd. (ADL) E200 / ‘ADL’ Enviro 200

The latest livery, and considering the impending ‘merger’ with ‘national express’, probably not the last.

New to ‘Selkent’.

Obviously from the livery, its layout and a ‘Stagecoach’ group fleet

number, it was formerly a ‘Stagecoach’ vehicle.

New, numbered 542 to ‘Fife Scottish’.

More recently with ‘Stagecoach in Cambridge’.

‘Scene’ when What Goes Around Comes Around on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

On Tuesday the 15/02/2022, I posted a blog titled ‘Scene’ in Chesterfield yet again.

When I was researching and writing the comments I realised that the fifth image, a Dennis Dart / Plaxton Pointer in the colours of ‘Hulleys of Baslow’ rang a bell somewhere at the back of my memory.

I hope that you will appreciate that with a collection of many thousands of images that tying one or two down to some distant point in the past is not always easy.

However,

This is what I posted on the 15th and the comment I made then which was,

PX05 EKW ‘Hulleys of Baslow’ No. 24.

Dennis Dart SLF / Plaxton Pointer 2

on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

“New to ‘Stagecoach North West’ as No. 34687 but it was acquired from ‘Stagecoach South West’.”

Therein was a clue.

In October 2013, My wife and I had a holiday in Cumbria where I managed to get a couple of hours taking photos in Carlisle.

PX05 EKW in ‘Stagecoach in Carlisle’ colours was one of the images I took on that day.

Fast forward to February 2017 when we were on holiday in Plymouth and some of the same batch of buses were working there including I believe

PX05 EKW.

Although I wasn’t able to get a picture of it, I did get one of the batch.

This one.

The comments I made at the time are repeated here.

“ I know that operators move buses around the various fleets within their group for a variety of reasons. I do wonder though about the economics of the exercise.

This particular bus, seen in Plymouth was photographed in Carlisle by me nearly 4 years ago.

According to Google maps, Carlisle is 388 miles away.

‘Scene’ in Chesterfield yet again on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The last of a trio of blogs featuring images that were all captured on the same day (09/02/2022).

The first, posted on 09/02/2022 featured an elderly ex ‘trentbarton’ Scania/Wright single decker currently in temporary service with ‘Hulleys of Baslow’.

The second, featuring what I saw in Bakewell was posted on 13/02/2022.

Oddly enough, I had only gone to Chesterfield to see the Scania which I hoped might turn up.

It did so within five minutes of my arriving in the town.

The rest of the images were a bonus so to speak.

It must be years since I last saw a Trident/ALX400 in Chesterfield.

Still, it was a pleasure to see it.

One of my most recent blogs, (posted 09/02/2022) dealt at length with an elderly ex ‘trentbarton’ Scania/Wright single decker currently in temporary service with ‘Hulleys of Baslow’.

I caught that bus to Bakewell where, whilst I was waiting the half hour or so for my return service to Chesterfield, I photographed the other buses that passed my way.
