‘Scene’ Beach combing in Scarborough on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

For as long as I can remember there has been an open top seafront service operating in Scarborough.

A two company competition with ‘East Yorkshire’ (EY) and ‘Shoreline Suncruisers’ usually running alternate buses.

Usually the province for the older buses in the fleet for both companies, ‘EY’ have recently introduced a batch of ‘new’ old buses which run under the branding of ‘Scarborough’s Beachcomber’.

Running in a version of the new ‘East Yorkshire’ livery, they have been purchased from London operator ‘Abellio’ via bus dealership and operator ‘Ensign’.

‘Scene’ at Manchester International Airport (MIA) 1 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Thanks go to friend John Beastall who provided much of the information accompanying the images.

For those of you who are familiar with the spectators area at ‘MIA’ you will be aware of the viewing mounds that were put in some years ago to enable photographs to be taken over the fencing topped off with wire.

Well the first image below shows what was the location of the left hand and best of the two mounds. It has become the site of an executive terminal which effectively blocks the view of the apron and much of the runway.

If you are thinking of visiting and intend taking photographs, you have only the right hand mound to work from so, take a step ladder.

Registration recorders are OK, they can read registrations through the fencing.

For photographers, it is very disappointing.

Readers seeking further details on particular aircraft are recommended to Google the aircraft type and the c/n. ie ‘Airbus A330’ c/n 0455’.

‘Scene’ in Nottingham. Yet More Gas Powered Double Deckers on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

‘Nottingham City Transport’ (NCT) continues to set a cracking pace with the introduction of its fleet of Scania gas powered double deck buses.

With more than 90 having been delivered over the last 2 years and more to come. Nottingham will have the World’s largest fleet of buses of this type by the end of 2019.

This time it’s the turn of Pink Line 28 that runs from the City Centre to Bilborough to get the new buses.

‘Scene’ in ‘Stagecoach’ service once more, YN05 XNZ on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

In October 2018 I posted a blog regarding YN05 SNZ ‘Stagecoach Yorkshire’s No. 34720 detailing its surprise (to me at least) returning to fleet livery after a longish spell in the former ‘Chesterfield Transport’s lovely green livery.

Not only fleet livery but a revised fleet livery which in my view was better than ‘Stagecoach’s norm.

I thought that that was the end of the story but no!

Somebody somewhere, (Chesterfield ? Barnsley ? Perth ? maybe) did not approve and so on a visit to Chesterfield recently I captured this image of it having regained standard fleet livery once more.

I also include the earlier liveries for those who might have missed them previously.

I am tempted to think that for a 14 year old bus that this might be its final livery but then again maybe not!

Watch this space.

I seem to drop lucky with the bus activity in Scarborough if not with the weather.

My annual visit last week produced the following images of these 2 Alexander Dennis Ltd. products making their first journeys from the ADL factory at Eastfield in what I would hope are successful and lengthy careers.

I am a bit short on detail as to the identity of one of them so if anyone can fill in the gaps then please feel free to get in touch.

‘Scene’ working for ‘national express’ in Chesterfield on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

I have been a fan of the Caetano Levante coach body since its introduction. It has now progressed to its mark 3 model which was introduced two years ago.

I saw one of the prototypes at the ‘Coach & Bus UK17’ show at the NEC which appeared in one of my blogs of that time posted on 07/10/2017.

Since then it seemed to have disappeared, at least from my part of the world.

A casual remark from another enthusiast that ‘Stagecoach Yorkshire’ had acquired some lead me to Chesterfield which is at the southern end of that operators territory.
