‘Scene’ in Chesterfield for the Umpteenth Time on Dennis Basford’srailsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

In bus terms, Chesterfield never lets me down.

There is always something of interest to be found.

There was a time that the only place that guaranteed a ‘Hulleys of Baslow’ presence was Bakewell.

These days, with HoB running services in this part of Derbyshire as well as into the Peak District, In Chesterfield there is always a steady throughput of members of their fleet.

HoB are renowned for painting members of their own fleet in the liveries of former operators in the Peak District.

This being an approximation of the coaching livery of the former ‘North Western Road Car Company’.

‘Scene’ Out and About Once More on Dennis Basford’srailsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Most of my blogs have some sort of theme or purpose.

There are, however, times when something just happens to turn up that does not fit any category.

Collectively they are just ‘Bits & Pieces’.

Individually they can be interesting.

See if there is anything out of these that you like.

‘Scene’ on a PSV Circle Organised Visit. Manchester City Centre on Dennis Basford’srailsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The PSV Circle (of which I have been a member for some years) aims to hold an Annual General Meeting in a different location in the UK every year.

Usually held at a weekend, they also include visits to operators and other bus related venues for the attending members to visit and enjoy.

This year, the location being in the North West of England centred on the Holiday Inn Express, Preston.

Friend Peter Rose joined me for what turned out to be a sometimes wet, but very enjoyable weekend.

As we have done before, we have combined all the images we have gathered.

The credits being joint D.Basford/P.M.Rose.

Our lunch break was taken in Manchester City Centre where for a few minutes, it was fine and sunny.

For the rest of the hour it poured with rain so we sat in Chorlton Street Coach Station and watched the rain run down the windows.

‘Scene’ in Bakewell once more on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

It is now the middle of March 2023 and the days are getting longer, warmer, drier and brighter (or so I kid myself).

Time to come out of hibernation and look at what the world has to offer.

One of my favourite spots for bus photography is Bakewell’s Rutland Square.

You may not  be aware that by double clicking the images below that they can also be viewed on my ‘Flickr’ pages in a larger format.

My view of all the variations on the Enviro400 body styling, 400MMC, 400City, 400EV etc. is that this, the earliest, is the most stylish. Somehow all of the others look a bit like a caricature.

‘ Scene’ in Historic Mansfield on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Friend Peter Rose has been contributing to this blog in a number of ways for some time.

A Mansfield lad by birth and upbringing, he is a believer in showing buses in their working environment.

He has submitted a selection of images and the attached notes which I present in their entirety.

My only addition are the bus details.

Peter also posts images on a Facebook group, ‘Buses and Coaches in the Landscape’ which is using the first image in this blog as the header to the website.

That, in my view, is well deserved recognition of his work.
