‘Scene’ in Antwerp on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

There have been over 100 blogs during the course of 2017. I have enjoyed immensely the process of gathering the images, processing them and eventually posting them on the internet.

I would like to thank everyone for their interest and support.

I get quite a bit of feedback from readers almost all of it positive which gives me the encouragement to continue into 2018.

With that in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone out there

‘A Happy and Healthy New Year’

I am always on the lookout for something unusual to end the year with and this certainly fits the bill.

Obviously modelled on the style of a traditional American schoolbus it features a sectional glazed open top sliding roof which can be varied rapidly to cope with changes in the weather.

Just look at those rear view mirrors!

Anyone who can supply further details of this bus will be rewarded with a public thank you in my next blog !!

‘Scene’ in Hull, ‘East Yorkshire Motor Services’ Single Deckers on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Hull Paragon interchange is the setting for this batch of Images.

Located alongside the railway station together with the adjacent coach station it is a genuine ‘Transport Interchange’.

There is a bus parking area close by which in itself is a major attraction with a substantial number of buses laying over between duties and being used for crew changes.

‘Scene’ at Manchester International Airport. ‘Thomson/Tui’ on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Todays ‘Thomson/Tui’ airline has its beginnings in 1962 with a company called ‘Euravia’ which at that time flew Lockheed Constellations on holiday charters.

The name ‘Britannia Airways’ (BA) was adopted in 1964 when former BOAC Bristol Britannia 102’s joined the fleet.

In 1965 ‘BA’ became part of the ‘Thomson’ group. A Canadian owned company.

In 2000 ‘Thomson’ and ‘BA’ were purchased by ‘Preussag’ AG (Tui group) of Germany.

The ‘Thomson’, ‘Thomson Airways’ & ‘Thomsonfly’ names have continued to appear on aircraft but the ‘Tui’ titling is now replacing them.

The current fleet comprised Boeing 737’s, Boeing 757’s, Boeing 767’s and Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s.

‘Scene’ in Burton on Trent (BoT) on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

Regular readers will know of my liking for ‘BoT’ and its buses.

Very much the major operator these days is ‘midland classic’ who in September 2016 took over the operations in the town of the local ‘ARRIVA Midlands’ unit together with a collection of eldery Wright bodied DAF single deckers.

Further to the addition of some new Optare MetroCity’s and Alexander Dennis Ltd. E20D’s there is usually a steady turnover in vehicles that have been bought in from elsewhere.

I think that the only bus in this selection that has appeared on my blog before is the first image of the Optare Spectra that was at 2016’s ‘Showbus’ at Donnington Park.

On that occasion I showed a nearside view whereas this time we see the offside.

Still I would argue one of the best looking buses around.
