‘Scene’ in Bury, Single Deckers on’Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Bury is perhaps best known as the home of the ‘The East Lancashire Railway’ who’s terminus is just round the corner from Bury Bus Station.

A compact drive in drive out set up where the main operator is ‘rosso’ with First Greater Manchester’ providing some variety.

‘rosso’ is the operating name of ‘Rossendale Transport’ who are based at Haslingden in the Rossendale valley.

The word ‘rosso’ in Italian translates as red so it is not surprising then that red is the main colour in the fleet’s livery.

At the time of writing, it has just been announced that ‘Rossendale Transport’ are to be taken over by ‘The Transdev Blazefield’ (TB) group.

Having seen what ‘TB’ have done in the surrounding towns of Blackburn, Keighley, Burnley and on across into West Yorkshire. I consider this a very positive move.

See blog published 21/01/2018 for double deckers.

A glorious day on what was the hottest weekend of the year so far.

The only down side to the conditions was that being located on a non hard surfaced site there was a lot of dust being thrown up.

Non the less, plenty to admire and enjoy.

‘Scene’ in Derby last week on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

This selection of images were all taken on the same day as the ‘Wrightbus Mini Hybrid’ single decker pictured in my last blog published on 12/01/2018.

‘ARRIVA Midlands’ are slowly repainting the fleet into the new light blue livery. By my reckoning the double deckers are all done,

I have seen an Optare Solo and a Wright  bodied Scania K230UB appeared in the new livery on my blog dated 03/11/2017.

A start has been made on the Scania CN230UB OmniCity fleet.

Oddly enough this next bus has been repainted into a shade of blue almost the same as that that is now appearing in the ‘ARRIVA’ fleet.

Although now in the fleet of ‘masons’ of Ashbourne, the word ‘ATKINSONS’ can just be made out above the windscreen.

I was surprised to see an ‘ARRIVA Midlands’ Wright bodied VDL on service X38 in Derby Bus Station because the nearest they normally get is about a hundred yards away when they are rounding the traffic island outside the Derby Council building.

On investigation there was a substantial quantity of liquid coming out of the back end which was being attended too by a couple of lads from the service department.

All must have been well because the bus sventually departed under its own power.

‘Scene’ today, 12/01/2018 in Derby on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Regular readers will know of my liking for Derby Bus Station.

I make no excuses for returning yet again simply because it always seems tp produce something different and so it was today.

‘Wrightbus’ the Northern Ireland based bus manufacturer has a number of demonstrators on the road advising operators and their intending customers about their ‘Micro Hybrid’ technology which offers many benefits including reduced fuel consumption.

I briefly saw the double deck version at a distance in Derby last week but today I was able to capture a few images of its single deck equivalent.

‘Scene’ in Eastbourne. Classic Cars on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Cars have only appeared on very rare occasions in my blogs. Usually as ‘one off’s but on a weekend break in Eastbourne, I came across a vintage transport rally organised by a local car club.

Here were many of the cars that I hung my nose over many years ago which I could not possibly have afforded then and for the most part could not afford now either.

For my money the most attractive of all the Aston’s, in my view, everything that came after was over the top.

Beautiful.
