‘Scene’ on a PSV Circle Organised Visit. At the Various Premises of R.S. Tyrer Ltd., Farnworth, Bolton 1 on Dennis Basford’srailsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The PSV Circle (of which I have been a member for some years) aims to hold an Annual General Meeting in a different location in the UK every year.

Usually held at a weekend, they also include visits to operators and other bus related venues for the attending members to visit and enjoy.

This year, the location being in the North West of England centred on the Holiday Inn Express, Preston.

Friend Peter Rose joined me for what turned out to be a sometimes wet, but very enjoyable weekend.

As we have done before, we have combined all the images we have gathered.

The credits being joint D.Basford/P.M.Rose.

‘Tyrers’ has a history stretching back to 1972 when Bob Tyrer at the age of 58 started his own business with a single, Leyland engined, Plaxton bodied Bedford coach.

Today, the company operates over 100 hundred vehicles out of three separate bases in the area.

‘Tyrers’ provided the transport for our second morning until lunchtime, which was taken in Manchester.

‘Scene’ on a ‘Transpire’ Outing ‘DW Coaches’ (DWC), Clay Cross, Derbyshire. on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

‘Transpire’ being ‘The Chesterfield Bus Society’.

Apart from the widely known Peak Park Bus Rally organised by the group and held at ‘Peak Rail’, Rowsley, Derbyshire.

They also organise regular days and evenings out to operators and events both locally and nationally.

Friend Peter Rose joined the group which numbered about 20 or so enthusiasts, as a guest for the evening.

‘DWC’ operates an eclectic mix of buses and coaches on contract work in the area

We were the first to arrive and we were surprised to find the above parked up.

However, we realised that ‘Hulleys’ operate a service from Alfreton via Clay Cross to Chesterfield and it might be that one of their fleet overnights at ‘DWC’s premises rather than travelling empty to and from Baslow, the company’s base.

New to ‘Metroline’ as No. DM964.

‘DWC’ sent this bus to Chesterfield to collect most of the balance of the party and it is pictured returning to base with them.

‘Scene’, Open toppers in London on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Well here we are then, August Bank Holiday Monday and what a glorious weekend it has been.

By contrast, the day I was in London and took the images seen here was dreadful. I left home at 7-30 am and returned at 9-30 pm and it never stopped raining!

I once wrote a blog about open top bus operation in London and titled it ‘Topless in London’. The response I got to it was remarkable and most of the feedback I received had little to do with buses.

I am not making the same mistake twice!

‘Scene’ in the Sunshine at Showbus 2016 part 1 on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

On what is my last blog of 2016, I would like to wish that all my readers have a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2017.

I have done some forward planning for next year which at this stage includes Leicestershire, Devon, Hampshire, Yorkshire and Lancashire together with a trip to Holland.

No doubt Derby will again figure large with ‘trentbarton’s new Enviro 200MMC’s on my local ‘the nines’ route being due in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile ‘Nottingham City Transport’ will be taking delivery of new gas powered double deckers.

Plenty to look forward to then.

I would also like to finish the year on a bright note and take my readers back to a day where the sun shone and it was pleasantly warm.

Where there were buses a plenty and all seemed well with the world.

Where better than ‘Showbus 2016’ at Donington Park.

‘Scene’ today (03/12/15). Double Deckers in Burton on Trent (BoT) I make no apology for going to ‘BoT’ again because in bus terms, it is one of the most interesting towns in the Midlands. The major interest is mainly provided by local operator ‘Midland Classic’ (MC) although ‘Arriva Midlands’ and ‘trentbarton’ are also active there. The purpose in todays visit was to catch up with a small batch of DAF SB250’s with Wright Eclipse Gemini bodies that have joined ‘MC’ from ‘Arriva London’.
