‘Scene’ on the Achensee Bahn in the Austrian Tirol once more on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The ‘Achensee Bahn’ is a steam hauled tourist railway.

It runs from the town of Jenbach which lies on the main line from Innsbruck to Salzburg and onto Vienna.

It uses the Swiss Riggenbach system of rack and pinion traction to get up the hill from Jenbach to terminate at the side of the ‘Achensee’ near to the town of Pertisau.

The ‘Achensee’ being being a lake which is the largest in the Tirol.

For an earlier blog re the ‘Achensee Bahn’ see blog posted 20/11/2020.

The sign refers to ‘Smoking’ and ‘Spitting’ which it declares are ‘unerwunscht’ which translates as ‘unwelcome’ or ‘undesirable’.

I would have thought that spitting would have been ‘verboten’.
