‘Scene’ in Bavaria on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Continuing my blog a day until the end of the current ‘lockdown’.

I hope you are enjoying them.

The main purpose of the holiday was to visit Neuschwanstein Castle which is located above the village of Hohenschwangau in Bavaria.

However I didn’t think that either destination would be immediately placed whereas  Bavaria is recognised by most people.

I last visited the castle over 60 years ago so I thought a return visit was about due.

It was built in the 1860’s and 70’s by King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

He was unfortunately dubbed ‘mad’ by his critics.

However, if they could see the mass of visitors (and the coaches that bring them) who pay good money to view the castle they might regret their harsh words.

I know that this is a transport blog but I grant myself a dispensation to include an image of the castle.

Having said that, I did use two aircraft and several coaches to get there and back!!

The castle stands high above the village and although it can be walked, a fleet of buses ferries most visitors up and back.

‘Scene’ in Sheffield. Coaches on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

FIRST, I MUST APOLOGISE FOR MY LACK OF POSTINGS AT A TIME OF YEAR WHERE I AM USUALLY VERY BUSY. MY HEALTH HAS BEEN AN ISSUE BUT HOPEFULLY THINGS WILL IMPROVE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

The first three images owe their presence here to the local entertainment industry and might I think be referred to as ‘Bandbuses’.
