‘Scene’ again in London

For various reasons, I have had a number of visits to London recently and as usual my camera made the journey with me.

 

Every visit to London for the past 50 years has included an image of an AEC Routemaster and this visit was to be no exception.

Taking visitors around the capital whist enjoying afternoon tea. This image was taken at the North side of Hyde Park and I must say it clattered along quite nicely.

A Volvo B5L Hybrid with Wright Gemini 3 bodywork that has some ‘Streetdeck’ features working for ‘Metroline’ turning out of Oxford St. onto Park Lane on its way to East Acton.

Another Hybrid. This time an Alexander Dennis Ltd. (ADL) Enviro400H working for ‘Go-Ahead London Central’.

As well as the old ‘Routemaster’, the ‘New Routemaster’ is now much in evidence.

Seen seemingly abandoned on Park Lane. There were no passengers and its crew had just wandered off leaving it sat in traffic with its hazard lights flashing.

I waited quite a while to see if it moved but I eventually left and it could still be there for all I know....!

‘Scene’ at Showbus 2014-‘Routemaster’s

There was so much to see at Duxford this year that to try and cover it all in one ‘Blog’ would not do justice to anything. I shall return as time and space allow me to in further ‘Blogs’ with other aspects that on the day caught my eye.

 

The Routemaster is 60 years old this year and to celebrate the event it was intended to have 60 examples present to celebrate the occasion. Just how many turned up, I am not sure but here are a few that drew my attention.

Finally, for all those of you who are by now sick of looking at ‘Old’ Routemasters, I will finish by giving you a ‘New’ Routemaster.

 

Love them or loath them, they are going to be around a for long time and I suspect that they will finish up being as iconic as the ‘Old’ RM has become. 

 

Wether they last for 60 years or not, only time will tell.....!
