The PSV Circle (of which I have been a member for some years) aims to hold an Annual General Meeting in a different location in the UK every year.

Usually held at a weekend, they also include visits to operators and other bus related venues for the attending members to visit and enjoy.

This year, the location being in the North West of England centred on the Holiday Inn Express, Preston.

Friend Peter Rose joined me for what turned out to be a sometimes wet, but very enjoyable weekend.

As we have done before, we have combined all the images we have gathered.

The credits being joint D.Basford/P.M.Rose.

‘Tyrers’ has a history stretching back to 1972 when Bob Tyrer at the age of 58 started his own business with a single, Leyland engined, Plaxton bodied Bedford coach.

Today, the company operates over 100 vehicles out of three separate bases in the area.

‘Tyrers’ provided the transport for our second morning until lunchtime, which was taken in Manchester.

‘Redline Travel’ were the second visit on the Saturday and to take us to their base, they sent along this bus.

The first being to ROTALA group’s ‘Preston Bus’ operation, more of which later.

We were to keep this bus for other visits until our lunch break which was taken in Bolton.

Whilst we were at ‘Redline’, it was raining heavily.

The company are to be congratulated for presenting the fleet to the standard they did.

‘Scene’ at Showbus 2018, West Midlands on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Not the most obvious or exciting bus to start a blog with BUT.

The future for public transport in the West Midlands seems to be that whoever operates services within the authorities boundarys will be obliged to wear a common ‘West Midlands’ livery.

This is the first bus I have seen in the new livery and I expect it to be the first of many.

‘Scene’ in Kings Lynn, ‘Stagecoach Group’ on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

It is just about three years since I was last in Kings Lynn and at that time the major local operator ‘Norfolk Green’ (NG) had just been taken over by ‘Stagecoach’.

Unusally for ‘Stagecoach’, ‘NG’ were allowed to continue with their own livery and titling. Since then, ‘NG’s livery has morphed into a scheme that uses some of the earlier livery colours applied in a distinctly ‘Stagecoach’ style.

One previous ‘NG’ feature, that of naming buses appears to be in decline. A shame really, because it gave the buses an extra bit of character.

‘Scene’ again in London

For various reasons, I have had a number of visits to London recently and as usual my camera made the journey with me.

Every visit to London for the past 50 years has included an image of an AEC Routemaster and this visit was to be no exception.

Formerly WLT 909 (RM909)
