‘Scene’ at the Buses Festival 2021 ‘Sharpes of Nottingham’ Part 1 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

‘Sharpes of Nottingham’ are a well known operator in the East Midlands.

Apart from their current service fleet which is always immaculately presented they also maintain some of its previous vehicles in a ‘heritage’ fleet that will be covered in part 2.

This coach appeared at the NEC’s ‘Coach & Bus Live’ show in 2019.

At the time, it appeared on my blog posted 03/10/2019.

There are some interior images in that blog.

I had not realised until I was writing this piece that when looking closely at the image it is possible to detect the odd spot of rain for which I apologise.

‘Scene’ at the Bus & Coach show at the NEC in 2019 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The annual B&C show at the NEC has been cancelled for 2020 because of the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Regular readers/viewers of my blog will know that I would normally have published a number of blogs built round what was new in the 2020 show.

As I am not able to do so, I will fill the gaps created by re-running some of the highlights from previous shows.

Sometimes (but not always) a veteran bus from earlier years  puts in an appearance.

The 2019 show today.

Tomorrow? who knows.

The 2021 show is scheduled for the end of October 2021 and hopefully, I will be there but a lot of water has got to go under a lot of bridges before then.

Meanwhile, I hope you have enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

Be positive and stay safe.

The bus that drives itself. There is a driver but he is simply a safety feature.

The battery of sensors that surround the bus do its thinking for it.

Speaking personally, My wife and I will miss Nova, we have had many enjoyable holidays with the company.

‘ADL’s best selling E20D / ‘ADL’ Enviro 200MMC has featured a number of times in this series of blogs so it is only right to finish the series with ‘ADL’s other best selling bus the E40D / Enviro 400MMC.

‘Scene’ at Coach & Bus UK19 Part 1 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Here we are then folks as promised the first, hopefully of a number of blogs covering the parts of the above event that caught my eye.

First, general impressions.

What was there was very good. What wasn’t there was anything from Optare or Wrightbus.

With the situation at Wright’s being highly uncertain I can understand their absence but I expected Optare to be present.

Having been down the redundancy road twice myself, I know what the employees are facing.

I would like to wish them all the best for their and the company’s future.

When I first saw what as expected to be on show. I doubted that I could get more that half a dozen blogs out of it but such was the quality and range of what was on display. I have identified a dozen possible blogs all of which I shall post.

Only about 75% of the space available was used with buses mostly spaced generously.

This allowed space for some manufacturers that I had never heard of. More anon and more tomorrow.
