‘Scene’ on Newark Northgate Railway Station on Dennis Basford’srailsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Friend Peter Rose and I were off to Newark to record the closing days of ‘Marshalls of Sutton on Trent’ operating Service 90 from Newark into Nottingham.

See blog posted 16/04/2023.

Always being willing to support public transport, we went into Nottingham by train.

As we have done before on joint outings, we have combined all the images we have gathered.

The credits being joint D.Basford/P.M.Rose.

One of the disadvantages of taking photographs at Newark is that unless a train stops there, they go through the station at 100mph plus which makes it difficult to get decent images to old hands like mine.

Still, we do our best!

‘Scene’ on the Rails in York on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Towards the end of the summer (remember that?) friend Peter Rose and I had a day in York. He favours the trains on view whilst I was occupied with the buses.

Several blogs covering some of the buses seen on the day, have already appeared.

This blog with Peter’s permission features his images of the railway interest.

‘Scene’ On the Rails in Derby on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Friend Peter Rose has been out and about with his camera again so with his permission to do so, I present this selection for your entertainment.

Thanks also to Peter for providing the service details.

In respect to Peter’s liking for transport in its environment I have not cropped the images.

There are 14 Class 180 sets built in 2000/2001 for ‘First Great Western’ (FGW) where they were known as ‘Adelantes’. They developed a reputation for unreliability which caused their withdrawal from FGW service in 2008.

Some sets were returned to FGW after a period in storage whilst others went to ‘Hull Trains’ and ‘Grand Central’.

The units with ‘Hull Trains’ having been replaced by Class 802 Paragons have moved to ‘East Midland Railway’ for what will be a short stay before being replaced themselves by Class 810’s in 2022.
