I have chosen to post this blog today so that anyone who just might not be interested in ‘Hulleys of Baslow’ has something different to look at.
For those of you who are interested in ‘Hulleys of Baslow’, normal service will be resumed on Saturday (at least for a few more days)!
For part 1 see blog posted 02/04/2021. For part 2 see blog posted 09/04/2021.
Home being Ripley in Derbyshire where it was a sunny spring afternoon which casts some ‘arty’ shadows across the buses.
I have taken a leaf out of friend Peter Roses’s book in that when my wife and I go for our daily walk, I take my camera.
So far it has yielded the following.
YJ14 BTV ‘trentbarton’ No. 840 ‘the sixes’. Optare Versa V1170
on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’
The ‘sixes’ out of Ripley to Derby via Belper run on a half hourly basis normally, using route branded vehicles.
It is unusual to see three different types on the service in the space of an hour and a half.
For those not familiar with ‘the sixes’.
It is a group of routes serving the Derwent Valley from Derby via Belper and Matlock as far as Rowsley and beyond to Bakewell.
The townships of Ripley and Wirksworth are adjacent to the main route which uses the A6 are also served.
I am pleased to see that the East Mill at Belper where I used to work form part of the graphics on the buses.
See blog posted 11/12/2020 for further images of this livery.

Most of the terminus points in Ripley are either on or close to the market place
The one exception is located adjacent to a ‘Sainsburys’ supermarket located about a half mile away to the East where this image was captured.
