Regular readers/viewers of the blog will probably remember the daily coverage I gave to EUROBUS EXPO 2022’ at the NEC in early November.
At the time, I prepared a variety of blogs but as I restricted myself to the number of blogs I wanted to post, not all all of them appeared.
This one I still consider to be of interest, so here it is.
At the end of EUROBUS EXPO 2019, I said in my closing blog;
“All being well, I will be back at the NEC next year”.
We all now know that due to the Covid 19 pandemic the years 2020 and 2021 would not see the annual Busfest at the NEC .
However, I am pleased to say that it is back with a bang this year.
‘Optare’, the British bus manufacturer had its origins in ‘Charles H. Roe’ of Leeds.
After a number of changes in location and structure, the company became part of ‘Ashok-Leyland’, which is part of the Indian ‘Hinduja Group’.
To reflect the company’s intention of phasing out diesel engines in favour of electric propulsion a further name change to ‘SWITCH Mobility Ltd’ took place in 2021.
All current production is now badged as ‘SWITCH’.

With the two doors and livery for service in London.
The metrocity has been around in various guises for some years,
The front bodywork seems to have been reworked with the protuberant nose, which is presumably in line with ‘Transport for London’s efforts to offer greater protection to pedestrians.
