I don’t usually make a habit of photographing what my wife calls ‘mucky buses’.

However there is always room for the odd exception, particularly when it is something that I regard as interesting.

This particular bus dates from October 2005 when it was new to ‘trentbarton’ (tb) registered FJ55 BZS and numbered 690 in that fleet.

For many years it worked on ‘the sixes’ series of routes linking Derby via Belper and Matlock along the A6 to Bakewell. An extremely scenic journey.

Surprisingly, when many of the other buses in the batch have been passed to fellow ‘Wellglade’ group member ‘TMTravel’ or in some cases scrapped,

this bus was sold recently to ‘connexions’ buses of Tockwith, York.

More surprisingly, to me at least is that it has turned up again in Derbyshire carrying the remains of its ‘tb’s ‘the sixes’ livery working temporarily for

‘Hulleys of Baslow’.

I had a ride on it today from Chesterfield to Bakewell where once more it graced Rutland Square in the town just like it used to in the past.

Its driver for the day Jonathan, commented

“For its age, it is still a very pleasant bus to drive”.

Long may it continue!

The interior still looks smart and ‘trentbarton’s promotional material on the coving panels looks interesting.
