‘First South Yorkshire’ (FSY) has recently started to re-paint its fleet in an approximation of the liveries of the major operators that made up the fleet when South Yorkshire PTE (which eventually became ‘FSY’) was launched in 1974.
These were the Corporation Transport Departments of Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
For those not familiar with the previous liveries they were,
Doncaster, mainly dark red with a purple trim, Rotherham, dark blue and cream and Sheffield azure blue and cream.
Sheffield’s old azure blue and cream livery has appeared many times before on my blog but anyone in doubt should refer to the last image in this blog.
Whilst I grew up with the azure blue and cream livery which I still think was one of the most attractive liveries ever devised, I think that the new livery is a good effort and is in keeping with many other modern liveries.

I think the strap line STRONG etc. is a bit odd considering the chassis is Swedish and the body was built in Northern Ireland.
