‘Scene’ Outside Nottingham's Broadmarsh Bus Station 1

Most of my images in Nottingham come from on the streets but on this occasion, I positioned myself at the Broadmarsh Bus Station.

Inside, it is dark and gloomy whilst outside, you are shooting across several lanes of traffic. Admittedly the traffic is light controlled but you do need to be quick.

The first image shows the exit to the bus station with two ‘trentbarton’ (tb) Scania L94UB’s with Wright Solar bodies waiting to leave.

Behind them is another of the same being followed by a Nottingham City Transport East Lancs bodied double decker which are waiting to turn right across the face of the two Scanias.

Above it all is one of Nottingham’s first batch of Trams about to enter arrive at its railway station terminus.

A Van Hool TDX21 Altano working for ‘Stagecoach’ (SC) subsidiary ‘Megabus.com’.

Although this coach is left hand drive and the signage is in Euro’s the registered owner is Midland Red South and ‘SC’s website gives its base as being at Rugby.

Another Scania L94UB with Wright Solar bodywork. Previously having worked in ‘tb’s main fleet it is now working for associate company ‘Kinchbus’ of Loughborough.

Working service 9, a half hourly frequency journey linking Nottingham and its home town.

The '9' came to 'Kinchbus' when the previous operator, 'Premiere' of Nottingham went out of business 2 years ago.

The Broadmarsh bus station is one of a very small number of locations in the country where both versions of the Optare Tempo can be seen working side by side.

An Optare Solo EV working the ‘FREE’ to all service that links the 2 major bus stations at Broadmarsh and the Victoria centre with the city centre. A ’tb’ vehicle.

For those who can remember them. The ‘audio’ on these ‘electric’ buses is very much like riding on a trolleybus.

From the same owner is this diesel Optare Solo doing a turn on the same service.
