It is two years since friend Peter Rose and I last visited the GCR.
A good selection of trains both steam and diesel were running.
However, our main purpose, now as then, was to see and photograph the entrants in the bus rally held at Quorn & Woodhouse station.
A fine day initially that turned to rain later did not deter us from having an interesting and enjoyable day.
The station has ample close by car parking which at £3 per car was cheap.
The buses gathered in the station yard from where a steady stream of excursions to Loughborough, Leicester and other places of interest ran at no extra cost.
The Loughborough excursion allowing for visits to both the GCR’s station and Network Rail’s mainline station.
As we have done before, we have combined all the images we gathered on the day.
The credits being joint D.Basford/P.M.Rose.

This image taken through a window shows the style of coach seating (33 of them) fitted.
The casting supporting the seat has the letter W worked into it no doubt to underline who the coach builder was.
