The annual B&C show at the NEC has been cancelled for 2020 because of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Regular readers/viewers of my blog will know that I would normally have published a number of blogs built round what was new in the 2020 show.
As I am not able to do so, I will fill the gaps created by re-running some of the highlights from previous shows.
Sometimes (but not always) a veteran bus from earlier years puts in an appearance.
The 2015 show today, 2016 tomorrow.
Volvo B11R / Plaxton Elite ‘trentbarton’ ‘red arrow’.
on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’
‘trentbarton’ is my local operator and all the local enthusiasts knew that the new ‘red arrows’ were coming.
The Plaxton Elite body was still relatively new in 2015 however my first sight of one at the NEC literally took my breath away. It was stunning.
I have travelled on them many times in service between Derby and Nottingham.
This being the service that they were built for and they are as good to ride on as they look.
Still the flagship of the fleet after 5 years.
See my blog dated 01/10/2015 for more images.

HC65 HWC ‘Holmeswood Coaches Group’ MAN 19.360 / Barbi Galileo
on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’
I had just had a week on holiday in Italy where our transport was one of these coaches.
It was very impressive, comfortable, quick, smooth, rattle free etc. The list goes on.
I was very surprised then for whatever reason it did not sell well in the UK.
It deserved to.

The prototype shown at the 2014 show was short bodied.
In the year that has elapsed since then, it has now grown to 5 metres in length.

King Long were the first of the Chinese bus and coach manufacturers to have a real ‘ go’ at cracking he UK market and for a while they did moderately well.
Recent years however have seen them fade away.
