Yet one more of my favourite places, we almost went to live there many years ago.
A small, vaguely circular bus station that is adjacent to the railway station.
The main bus services are by ‘First’ group into Leeds and by ‘Transdev’s ‘the witch way’ into Manchester.

on ‘Dennis Basfords’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’
Much maligned, the Pacer continues in service. Scheduled to be withdrawn before the end of 2019. They work on quite long journeys.
This one was working from Leeds over the Pennines to the West Coast.
Skipton Railway Station Island Platform
on ‘Dennis Basfords’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’
The railway station at Skipton is a traditional stone built affair with a covered in roof supported on metal posts.
It has been beautifully restored and painted in red, white (or cream) and black.
A modern waiting room structure has been provided which is painted in grey and blue.
Would it not look a lot better if it could have painted to match the rest its surroundings?
Can I just check if Skipton bus station has moved please?
ReplyDeleteThe last time I visited, the bus station was almost in the town centre, next to the canal, some half-a-mile from the railway station. Google Maps does have the unexpected comment "this location has been reported closed".
Thanks
