‘Scene’ at Manchester International Airport. ‘easyjet’ on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

‘Easyjet’ were the first British airline to join the ‘cheap flight’ revolution in air travel that was  pioneered by ‘Southwest Airlines’ in the United States of America.

I well remember going to Rome with ‘easyjet’ for about a tenner (single) and to Dublin with ‘Ryanair’ for £1 (return).

Starting out with a fleet of Boeing 737’s, ‘easyjet’ quickly switched to the Airbus A319 and more recently to the larger Airbus A320.

They are currently going through a livery change although they still retain the basic orange and white colour scheme.

It would seem that ‘easyjet’ have saved a bob or two on paint. With the new livery, the forward fuselage remains in light grey. Only the rear fuselage has been painted white.

‘Scene’ in Nottingham. A familiar bus with new branding 1 on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

On the 16th. of August 2016 I posted a blog about ‘Nottingham City Transport’ having repainted one of its fleet into the livery of 50 years ago to mark of the ending of Trolleybus operation in the City.

The same bus is still in service but the ‘branding’ has been altered in favour of celebrating 140 years (1878-2018) of service in the City.

‘Scene’ at Showbus 2017. ‘Eastern Coach Works (ECW)’ on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The history of the British bus industry is littered with companies that like shooting stars shone for a while and then fell to Earth.

Unfortunately, ’ECW’ was one of them.

Based in Lowestoft, ’ECW’s history goes back as far as 1912 when ‘United Automobile Services’ was formed with the intention of running bus services in the town.

Coach bodybuilding followed in 1920.

Nationalised postwar the company built many bodies on Bristol chassis for the state owned ‘Transport Holding Company’.

Partially privatised in 1965, the company closed in 1987.

‘Scene’ in Eindhoven, Holland on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk

A short break staying in Eindhoven included time to see something of the Dutch transport ‘scene’.

We found the Dutch people very wellcoming, very helpful and the vast majority speak good English.

Eindhoven lies in the Dutch province of Southeast-Brabant with the main operator being ‘Hermes’ which uses the word ’Bravo’ in its branding.

As usual on the continent, two and three door operation is normal.

When you see the speed at which passengers with passes board at the front and and leaving passengers use either of the other doors to leave, its breathtaking.

The Dutch are developing alternative power sources to diesel and the latest buses in the fleet reflect this being electricity powered articulated’s.
