Followers of my blog will have read the last blog which related to ‘midland classic’ operating a contract service from Derby to Burton on Trent as the X39.
This blog continues on from that with today’s sighting of an elderly Leyland Olympian F96 PRE parked up in Derby bus station.
In a plain yellow livery except where the word ‘transdev’ a previous owner showed through the paintwork.
Surprisingly for such a nondescript elderly bus the operator turned out once more to be ‘midland classic’ (mc).
It was I presumed standing in for a fleet liveried vehicle on the X39.
It was only when I returned home and researched the vehicle that I discovered that it was previoulsy operated by ‘Stevensons’ of Uttoxeter and Burton on Trent (BoT).
When ‘Arriva’ took over ‘Stevensons’ F96 PRE appeared in full ‘Arriva’ livery.
Eventually sold on, it graduated to ‘transdev’ from where it has returned ‘home’ so to speak to ‘mc’ who are todays successor to ‘Stevensons’ in ‘BoT’.
