‘Scene’, new to me in Nottingham on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The bus service between Chesterfield and Nottingham which runs via Mansfield has been run by ‘Stagecoach’ and ‘trentbarton’ for some years as a joint operation.

Branded ‘Pronto’, the buses share a very similar but not identical pink and plum livery.

In the past, usually run with single deckers, the ‘Stagecoach’s contribution has recently been upgraded to double deckers and very pretty they are.

‘Scene’ in Scarborough once more on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

I took these two images last Thursday the 12th. of June 2018 at about 11-00am..

The information available about the bus is limited.

At least it has a number plate although a close inspection shows that it is running on trade plate 077 AT and as such is most likely to be on a test run from the Plaxton works at Eastfield where it was presumably built.

The two doors and the colour scheme would suggest a London area operator but it carries no other identification that I can see.

Anyone who can supply the missing details will receive a big thank you on my next blog!

‘Scene’ in Scarborough 1 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Scarborough has provided me with a number of blogs over the years and I hope that it will continue to do so.

‘East Yorkshire Motor Services’ (EYMS) is the major operator in Scarborough and the company hs been a regular supporter of the local coach and bus builders at Plaxton.

‘EYMS’ services in the town are branded ‘Scarborough and District’ and new to the fleet since my last visit are two batches of short length Alexander Dennis Ltd. E20D’s.

The only previous occasion I have seen this model was when I saw them being built at Plaxton’s recently. (see blog dated 03 June 2018).

‘Scene’, ‘Bits and Pieces’ 2 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

Most of my blogs have some sort of theme or purpose.

There are however times when I take a photograph of something that does not fit into any category.

It is generally something that just happened to turn up at the time.

Collectively they are just ‘Bits and Pieces’. Individually they can be interesting.

See if there is anything that you like out of these.

For part 1 see blog published 28/03/2018.

‘Scene’ at Showbus 2017. ‘Plaxton’ 2 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The history of the British bus industry is littered with companies that like shooting stars shone for a while and then fell to Earth.

Fortunately ‘Plaxton’ is not one of them.

Now part of the ‘Alexander Dennis Ltd.’ group and turning out current standards like the E20D / Enviro 200MMC alongside its own branded coach production.

There is however a long history of ‘Plaxton’ production a little of which is shown here.

There will be a small number of blogs about ‘Plaxton’ bodied vehicles seen at ‘Showbus 2017’.

‘Scene’ in Ripley (Derbyshire) on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

It ’s not everyday that the town where I live features in one of my blogs but this is one of those days.

Ripley to Nottingham is served directly by two routes.

‘trentbarton’s ‘rainbowone’ which runs via Heanor and Eastwood and their ‘rapidone’ which runs via Heanor and then nonstop to Nottingham along the A610.

The route of the ‘rainbowone’ dates back many years whereas the ‘rapidone’ is a fairly recent introduction.

At its start the ‘rapidone’ saw the use of Volvo B7RLE’s with Wright Eclipse bodies. These were exchanged in July 2014 for new Optare Versa V1170’s (YJ14 BSO & YJ14 BSU).

July the 1st 2018 saw the Versa’s withdrawn to be redeployed on strengthening ‘rainbow one’ services.

Their replacements ? Volvo B7RLE’s with Wright Eclipse bodies albeit in a much revised and brighter livery. (YJ08 WHS & YJ08 WHR).

It seems that their is some truth in the saying that

“What goes around comes around”.

‘Northern Rail’, part of the ‘ARRIVA’ group are the most prominent operator in and out of Leeds with services radiating to all points of the compass.

‘TransPennine Express’, part of ‘First’ group operate across the North of England and into Scotland serving both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The link South and to London is currently in the hands of ‘Virgin East Coast’.

Since this blog was first written, ‘Virgin East Coast’ has been stripped of the East Coast franchise which is now being run in a form of Nationalization by ‘London North Eastern Railway’.
