What first appears to be a ‘London General Omnibus Company’ AEC ‘B’ type is in fact a replica that is built on what was a Duple bodied Bedford VAM chassis dating from 1966.

 

The ‘B’ type became famous in 1914 when large numbers of these buses were commandeered by the War Department, shipped to France and used as troop transports carrying men into the front line.

By the end of 2019, ‘Nottingham City Transport’ (NCT) will have the biggest fleet of Bio-gas powered buses in the World.

 

Earlier deliveries have featured before in my blog and a further nine have just been added to the fleet linking the City with Bulwell to the North West.

 

Branded for ‘Brown Line 17’ and painted in the Brown version of the ‘Gas Bus’ style livery.

It is many years since I last paid Lincoln a visit. The old bus station was a dull, dark, miserable place whilst the new one is superb.

 

For taking photographs it is ideal. The buses do almost a full circle so virtually any angle you want can be captured.

 

The only bus that does not seem to go into the bus station is this.

My wife and I had a few days in Scarborough staying at the Premier Inn.

 

The room they had allocated us was on the front of the hotel overlooking a road junction that was regularly used by assorted buses and coaches.

 

This selection of images were all taken through our bedroom window and give an elevated and perhaps slightly unusual view of the subjects.

 

My wife is convinced that I had fixed it for us to have this particular room (No.110). 

 

That is completely untrue. Honest!!

The first of an occasional series which came about when I was looking through my collection of images for something else and this small selection turned up.

 

The year 2013 saw the 100th. anniversary of the introduction of motor bus operation in Sheffield.

 

The anniversary was marked by a rally hosted by ‘First South Yorkshire’ the successors to ‘Sheffield Corporation Transport’ held at their ‘Olive Grove’ depot on the 12th. of May in 2013.

 

As is usual, invites to other bus operators were issued and the bus seen here was one of the attendees.

 

The Leyland B15 Titan was produced in the 1980’s primarily for ‘London Transport’ but a few other operators took small numbers. 

 

Being in todays terms an Integral design which then was not popular, it lead to Leyland developing  a chassis-ed version for bodybuilders to show what they could do.

 

This being the Leyland Olympian which was to be Leyland’s swan song.

 

Eventually becoming the Volvo Olympian of which some albeit now elderly buses can still be seen at work today.

 

New, registered B100 WUV  to ‘London Regional Transport’ as its No. T1100. It passed to ‘Selkent’ and later ‘Stagecoach North West’ as its No. 11100. 

 

It was they who removed the roof.

 

There is a reference on the internet to it working in 2019 for ‘Attend IT Ltd’ of Brentford  in ‘London Transport’ livery.

 

There is also a reference to it being registered A961 SYE and there is an image of it painted in pink dated 2017 and at some stage it worked for a company called 

‘Red Routemaster’.
