Burton on Trent based operator ‘midland classic’ (mc) have a history of painting buses in ‘retro’ liveries.

 

Some years ago there was an MCW Metrobus in the livery of ‘Stevensons’ originally of Spath and then Uttoxeter and more recently a Scania/East Lancs again in ‘Stevensons’ livery. (see blog published 26/10/2018 for an image of the latter).

 

The most recent appearance of a ‘retro’ livery in the ‘mc’ fleet appears in the colours of the former ‘Burton Corporation’ and very smart it looks.

‘Nottingham City Transport’ have won the ‘City Operator of the Year’ award at the ‘UK Bus Awards’ for the fourth time in 2018 having done so previously in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

 

This is a unique achievement in that they are the only company EVER to have won the award on four separate occasions.

Over the past two years, ‘tb’ have taken a considerable number of Alexander Dennis Ltd. (ADL) E20D / ‘ADL’ Enviro 200MMC’s into service.

 

These have displaced a number of older buses such as Optare Tempo’s and Optare Tempo SR’s which have been sold on and Volvo B7RLE’s with Wright Eclipse bodies which have been refurbished and cascaded within the fleet.

 

Registered in 2008 and 2009, even at ten yers old they still have considerable life left in them.

In 2018, a number of buses appeared with branding for ‘mango’, ‘tb’s electronic discounted payment card.

 

Whilst 2019 has seen ‘the villager’ and ‘the calverton’ re-liveries which have replaced Scania/Wright saloons.

‘Scene’, Freighting at the East Midlands Airport (EMA) part 1 on Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

I have been a regular visitor to the East Midlands Airport at Castle Donington since it opened in 1964.

 

Much has changed. Freight provides a large part of the movements at the airport and freight requires freighters. 

 

Early to late evening is probably the best time to see the comings and goings taking place.

 

‘DHL’ have a massive facilty at the EMA at the West end of the runway whilst ‘UPS’ are based East of the passenger buildings and apron.

 

The other operators featured use either the ‘DHL’ or ‘UPS’ bases.
