‘Scene’ in Eastbourne, Buses on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The title seems a bit brief by my standards, however there will be a further blog titled ‘Scene’ in Eastbourne, Coaches

Bus services for many years were provided by ‘Eastbourne Corporation Transport’

In 2008 the company was taken over by ‘Stagecoach’ group.

This takeover was scrutinized and passed by The Monopolies and Mergers Commission before full control was achieved in 2009.

Today, ‘Stagecoach South East’ is the main operator in the town with ‘Brighton & Hove’ ((B&H) a ‘Go-Ahead’ group company having a strong presence with a group of routes all linking along the coast to Brighton.

‘Seaford & District’ operate on mainly tourism based routes.

‘Scene’ in the SouthWest.’Citybus’and others in Plymouth on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

I have visited Plymouth on a number of occasions down the years and I always find something of interest.

Like many fleets, ‘Plymouth Citybus’ (part of the ‘Go-Ahead Group’) has a variety of brands within the fleet.

Possibly the most common is ‘citybus’.

The next 2 images of buses built by the same builder seven years apart show that although a lot has changed mechanically, there is very little difference in appearance.

I know that operators move buses around the various fleets within their group for a variety of reasons. I do wonder though about the economics of the exercise.

This particular bus, seen in Plymouth was photographed in Carlisle by me nearly 4 years ago.

According to Google maps, Carlisle is 388 miles away.

‘Scene’ in Derby 22/09/17 on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The day was autumnal with strong sunshine low in the sky giving strong shadows. It was one of those days where you get what images you can.

As usual, I got the best I could.

On the 31st, of July this year I published a blog detailing how ‘trentbarton’ were using former ‘the mickleover’ Volvo’s with Wright bodies to upgrade the Cotgrave services in Nottingham.

The Scanias with Wright bodies that were previously used on that service were withdrawn and at least one of them is now being operated by fellow ‘Wellglade’ group member

‘notts+derby’ on service 12A in Derby.

The former livery can still be seen where the previous route branding has been removed.

‘Scene’ at RAF Scampton, Scandinavian Air Forces. on ‘Dennis Basford’ railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

The second weekend in September 2017 saw the the first annual RAF Scampton Airshow which it is hoped will be the first of many.

Entrants were many and varied and this will be the first in a small number of ‘blogs’ that will cover some of the more interesting attendees.

From Sweden came a quartet that covered most of the last 60 years.

The only time I saw a J29 in ‘the flesh’ so to speak was in Malmo (Sweden) in 1957.

Tunnan translates as ‘Flying Barrel’.  An apt choice.

‘Scene’ in Sheffield 1 on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

As I have said before, my home city. I have not been back for almost a year but as usual, much remains the same and much changes. That’s life I suppose ! Long may it continue.

Anyhow less of the philosophy and more of the buses.

Sheffield Transport Interchange is private property and permission is required to photograph on the premises.

Any of the yellow jacketed security staff should be approached and in my experience, I have never had a problem.

‘Scene’. New on the ‘mainline’ in Nottingham on ‘Dennis Basford’s railsroadsrunways.blogspot.co.uk’

‘trentbarton’ have this past weekend introduced the latest tranche of new Alexander Dennis Ltd. (ADL) E20D’s with ‘ADL’ Enviro 200MMC bodies.

They have been put to work on the ‘mainline’ route that links Nottingham with West Bridgeford, Radcliffe and Bingham which lie to the East ot the City.

Previously the route was operated with Optare Tempo’s.

Readers may recall my previous blogs dated 09/12/2016 which saw earlier similar buses being launched on ‘the mickleover’ in Derby and on 09/01/2017 when ‘the nines’ linking Derby with Mansfield also received further buses of this type.

One of my earliest ‘blogs’ featured Southport and it is still available. It was published on the 13th. of October 2013.

A return visit then was called for.

As usual, some things have changed and somethings remain the same.

One of the things that is changing is ‘Arriva’s livery and it is a change for the better in my view.

‘Arriva’ have chosen to use the same colour combination on its dedicated fleet of ‘Park & Ride’ buses. A nice touch.
